What do i need to know about mages in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion?

My next adventure in Elder Scrolls is making a mage. Now i don’t know much about using them or where to buy some really good spells, armor, and staves. If somebody could give me some pointers that would be great!

    for a mage if you use a breton for race and apprentice for sign you get + 50% magicka + 50% resistance for race +150% magicka -50% vulnerability for sign.so you get +200% magicka which is constant and the other 2 cancel each other out.for your skills you can take all 7 magicka based skills but you should figure out which 3 or 4 you will use the most and go with them.if you chose alchemy,destruction,conjuration,light armor,sneak,blade or blunt,alteration.to buy spells each guild specializes in each one of the classes.if you go to the imperial city you will find rindirs staves and best defense for armor.hope this helps.good luck in oblivion.
