Understanding Why Metal Brooches Can Make Your Skin Green

Have you ever had engagement rings or a necklace that makes your skin yellow I’m sure you’ve been curious why that happens. Usually ~ your skin is reacting to basic metals to everyone who wears cheap jewelry.
It can happen to some faster than others- though, because our individual chemical makeups are different.

Even the more expensive jewelry can turn you green too- reason being even the expensive stuff isnt pure~ regardless of gold or silver content. Platinum is a safe choice as it almost never reacts with skin so not to fear if you buy platinum jewelry.
To try to stop gold jewelry from reacting to your skin be sure its not plated gold – it has only a very fine coating of gold over top of a base metal and that coating wears off very quickly. For 100% gold jewelry thats not rinsed or plated switching to eighteen karat options will help keep green spots from showing up on your skin.
Copper will react with skin and theres really nothing to be done.

Avoid sweating in your jewelry it can increase the green skin effect and also ask your jeweler if there is anything that he can coat the jewelry item with – to keep your skin from reacting. If you can find something to keep the reaction to a minimum you can wear inexpensive jewelry whenever you want. Keep in mind<, the green effect won’t hurt you. It’s just a skin reaction and not an allergic reaction. Allergies will turn your skin red plus it could also make your skin feel itchy and inflamed. Which is nothing like a green skin reaction.
If you do get an allergy to a piece of jewelry stop wearing that right away. Green skin shouldnt scare you ore keep you from wearing your favorite pieces you’ll just have to keep the area clean so its not ugly.

All in all coating it is probably the answer.
