When Guitar Hero first started out there were certainly people who were skeptical of it and whether it would have any kind of success. It took off, and companies scrambled to create some other things like it to cash in on the fame. The most notable of those attempts was Rock Band.
While it’s popular, it never achieved the status of Guitar Hero, and it doesn’t look like it ever will.

That’s ok, because Guitar Hero is here to stay. With the third game in the franchise there are a few things that are new and take some getting used to, and some habits that you learned in Guitar Hero II will have to be ‘unlearned’ to make you effective in Guitar Hero III, but most serious gamers won’t mind. The joy of having another Guitar Hero game to play will usually be much more important than any little changes that have to be made.

The game is almost viral in the sense that so many people play it, get their friends involved, and devote so much of their spare time and energy to it. Some things have gotten easier, but the game is still both fun and challenging.
