Is there anywhere in Fallout 3 where you can store your items and equipment?

I have really heavy equipment, and have to end up selling it because I can’t carry other stuff with me without having to sell it. I know in Oblivion you could buy houses and keep your gear in there. Is there anything like that in Fallout 3?

in the megaton bomb quest, if you take the bad route and blow up the bomb, you get an apartment, it has a safe in it. not sure about the one you get if you disarm the bomb.
Unlike Tony B, I disarmed the bomb at Megaton and still got the apartment so it doesn’t matter which route you take, your going to get the apartment.
There are two places
The Suite in Tennpenny Tower which you get by blowing up the Bomb in Megaton.
The Second is a house in Megaton which you get for disarming the Bomb.
You can buy stuff for your house in Megaton I dont think you can buy anything for the Suite.
You can store any items you have in whatever houses you own, or you can trade with your follower and they can hold whatever items you want them to.

yes you can store this stuff there BUT
you can also store it ANYWHERE else
I was carrying to much stuff while killed raiders for their equipment to sell it. So i found a little hideout under a bridge.
There I found lockers, grey box’s and some footlockers and such
I put somestuff in there so I could travel back to megaton so i could sell my stuff, came back after doing another quest
and it wa sstill there
This is also because it lives up to fallout 1 & 2
In 1 & 2 you couldleave it anywhere that was an offial town or something and it would be there when you came back
yea MANY PLACES here is some very good advice for everyone what you CAN do is first option go find a sceret place that no one ever is in or around and drop all your stuff in it second choice find a chest locker or any thing in the list of those put it in there remeber where it is thrid get a body near a loction put them in there and 4th get a house in megatown drop them all over the place or in a safe place 5th and final blow up megaton like me and get a suite in tenpenny tower (i suggest it) then drop it in there i hope this helps!
Yes, you must complete the quest “the power of atom” in which you will either deactivate or activate the bomb in megaton. At the end of the quest you will be given a house (with containers) in megaton or the tenpenny tower, depending on what kind of karma you want.
If you have got to the town called Minefield, I recommend using the house immeadiately to you’re left as a base if you haven’t got the house in megaton.
