How do have Age of Empires 2 run faster when LAN gaming?

I have multiple computers which I like to link together to play games. Age of Empires 2 works fine untill players begin to have large populations. The entire system boggs down making game play difficult. Any ideas?

   It seems that your computers don’t have a high enough configuration.
   Although AOE 2 – Age of Conquerors works fine with 256mb RAM, it starts to slow down the system with progress in the game.

   The Best way around this problem is that you use a dedicated server to host the multi player game.
   In this way the server will not be able to play the game but all other systems will work perfectly.

   Otherwise, set up HAMACHI VIRTUAL LAN in all systems and added virtual ram of 32 mb.
   It would do the trick.
